Current volunteer opportunities:

Please note: Opportunities involving client contact require a state-mandated 40-Hour Training (see below for the dates of the next training). This in-depth training covers the dynamics of domestic violence, teaches crisis counseling skills, and introduces the participants to Stand Strong. Upon completion of the training, participants receive state certification as a Domestic Violence Peer Counselor.

Crisis & Information Line Volunteer (Domestic Violence Peer Counselor):

Our 24-Hour Crisis & Information Line is staffed by volunteers after normal business hours, which are often critical hours for those in crisis.

Duties of this position include:

  • Carrying a cell phone to respond to incoming crisis calls after normal business hours or on weekends and holidays
  • Actively listening to women and men in crisis
  • Answering questions regarding Stand Strong services
  • Admitting clients to the Safe House when appropriate

Winter 2020 40-Hour Training:

All volunteers with client contact are required to complete our state-mandated 40-Hour Training. The training deposit is $150. Once you have completed 6 months of volunteering with us we will refund you half of your deposit. After 1 year of volunteering with us, you will receive your full deposit back.

There will be options for those that feel they cannot financially commit to paying the full training deposit. Please email tandreini@standstrongnow.org if you would like more details.
